Flower crowns at the ready…festival season is approaching! Get ready to pack, roll and squish your coolest summer dresses and denim jackets into a weekend bag , and set off to one of the UK’s amazing music festivals! No matter your musical tastes, this festival season promises a line up of festivals for every style and genre. At Sarenza, we LOVE festivals: live music + awesome style = win win win! While we’ve all had our festival fashion flops (Has anyone else only packed flip flops to a festival where it rained all weekend?) don’t put a foot wrong this summer, and get your festival fashion sorted. Whether you’re planning on dancing your socks off to Disclosure, or mellowing out to Jagwar Ma, check out our favourite festival fashion picks and playlists below!
Glastonbury: 27th – 29th June
Time to dig out your leather jacket and fringed dresses, as Glastonbury has gone all rock and roll this year! Channel festival queen Kate Moss in classic green Hunter wellies and denim cut offs for an effortlessly cool look , or why not try out a pair of metallic wellies to stand out when rocking along to Metallica at the Pyramid stage? What would Glastonbury be without the seemingly endless pits of mud? Leave your flip flops and Birkenstocks at home and be prepared to trudge through the campsite in studded biker boots and navajo inspired leather knee boots. Sienna Miller loves her camel desert boots, and we could totally see her wearing these Ash biker boots around the fields of Somerset this June! While we hate to sound like your mum, don’t forget to bring a bag big enough to tote around all your essentials during the day! It can be hard to find a backpack that doesn’t stray into the “naf/Duke of Ed/borrowed this from my grandad” territory, but we think we have found the ideal SS14 two strapper! This camouflage rucksack from French brand Bensimon is roomy enough to stop you having to make multiple trips back to your tent throughout the day to stash up on cereal bars and red bull , and is made from a nifty camo canvas with leather hardware – perfect for channeling that ninetines grunge vibe!
Wireless Festival: 4th – 6th July
With a line up starring the crème de la crème of the world’s hip hop and RnB acts , it’s no surprise that trainers reign supreme at Wireless. Converse was the trainer of choice last year, but we predict that the re-launch of the Adidas Stan Smith earlier this year means that this classic tennis shoe is Bound 2 (sorry – we couldn’t resist!) be a favourite with festival goers, thanks to its hip-hop roots and clean shape. Nike Dunks and wedge trainers are perfect for this urban festival, as the built in wedge adds extra height (perfect for peering over others in the crowd to watch your favourite act!) while keeping things comfortable. Take inspiration from Wireless 2014 acts such as Iggy Azalea and Ellie Goulding and pair your trainers with with cute co-ords and bomber jackets in tropical prints, or show some skin with a baseball or basketball jersey slashed into a crop top, like Angel Haze and Foxes.
Secret Garden Party: 24th – 27th July
The Secret Garden Playlist
The Secret Garden Party’s theme this year is “Goodbye yellow brick road” , and we can’t wait to see how festival goers will bring this theme to life – looking at previous years’ efforts, we don’t think we’ll be disappointed! While glittery red “Dorothy shoes” might not be the best idea IRL (try navigating your way around a campsite and not scuff those beauties up!), glittery accent heels, bows, and girly jelly shoes are a subtle nod to the theme and are more festival appropriate. Why not try a cute animal bag like this one from British brand, Irregular Choice, to add a quirky touch to your outfit? Think of it as the modern girl’s Toto!
Bestival: 4th – 7th September
Ahhhh Bestival, where would we be without your eclectic themes, mouth watering food trucks and house music grooves? If you’re whisking off to the Isle of Wight this summer, you’re in for a treat as Rob da Bank has brought some of the grooviest acts to the Island in the year that is being dubbed Desert Island Disco (or rather, DESSERT Island Disco if you’re like us, and will be at The Breakfast Club stand scoffing yourself full of pancakes on an hourly basis…) Dancing off those pancakey calories will not be a worry though, as Chic feat Nile Rodgers, Bonobo and SBTRKT are among some of the incredible names that will be filling the island’s fields with serious tunes from their sets on the main stage – and not forgetting OutKast duo André 3000 and Big Boi, who are guaranteed to make you shake it like a polaroid picture. Bestival goers are no shrinking violets, and we’re always inspired by their committment to stellar festival fashion! We’ll be channeling this year’s theme with palm print flats, tie-dye prints and disco-diva flatforms, paired with denim dresses, Ikat print skirts and lots and lots of sequins!
