Top Trends for AW13: Flatforms

Last up in our mini series of top trends for AW13 is the Flatform trend! (For those of you who have never heard of this word before, we haven’t made a spelling mistake! As the name suggests, the flatform is a shoe with a flat platform sole).

If ¬†you decided that our Gothic Glam trend was too punky, our City Cowgirl trend a little too Western and our Sweet Dreams trend too grown-up, then this might just be the perfect trend for you. With the thick rubber soles and definite retro vibe, these shoes are super cool. Whether you remember them from the nineties (as seen on most of the Spice girls) or whether you’re discovering them for the first time, make sure your flatforms a have patterns, bright colours or interesting details. Then just add girl power!!

First up on our flatform wishlist are these awesome Converses. Their lovely black leather outer is given a high-end makeover with the gold eyelets and gold side-zip and the extra copper mottled detail on the heel makes these flatforms extra special. Dress up with cool tights and a skirt or down with jeans and a t-shirt. You can always rely on Converse to make an ultra-wearable pair of trainers.

Next up these equally cool denim Vans. Sweet and innocent looking from the front in their lovely pale washed denim, these trainers have a line of silver spike studs down the back of their heels. We love the cool skater vibe that Vans are so good at and the white stiching which just lifts the black and blue colour combination. Winners?VANS Sk8-Hi Platform

If skater-style isn’t really your thing, perhaps you’d prefer these trendy black suede flatforms from Pastelle. The black leather detailing around the ankles and toes adds another texture against the soft black suede finish. Coupled with a slightly curved sole we think these flatforms are really cool and look super comfortable.

Last in our top flatform pick list is this fab pair from Converse. While we like to suggest a wide range of brands, it’s hard to resist the good old classics and these Converse high-tops are no exception. Their flashy orange colour canvas AND sole make these flatforms stand out from the crowd. Don’t be put off by their strong ‘look at me’ hue… These shoes are waiting to be worn with jeans, a cool shirt and a denim jacket.

Have we convinced you that flatforms are the way to go for this season? Do you love their retro vibe or do you think this trend is better left in the nineties?
