Destination shoe planner – Safari

Safari styles on Sarenza

After our shoe planner to help you pack for a tropical climate in a destination such as Brazil, our next location is an African safari! Whether you’re heading to the Ruaha National Park in Tanzania, the Maasai Mara in Kenya or down to Kruger in South Africa, we know that packing for safari can potentially be complicated! It can be extremely hot and dusty on African plains so you’ll to want to stay cool and comfortable at all times.

If you’re lucky enough to be heading on safari this summer (we’re so jealous!) check out our top picks for the best shoes to pack:

Espadrilles are making a massive comeback, and there’s a very good reason! Comfortable, lightweight and cool, they’re the perfect footwear staple. This pair, with their sturdy soles, from new Spanish brand Flamingos is perfect!

FLAMINGOS Florida F

Channel your inner gladiator with this gorgeous pair of sandals from Via Uno. With their chic gold detailing and buttery leather, you’ll look super chic while staying comfy. These would also be perfect for trips into the town or travelling when it’s nice to wear something a little more dressy. We think these sandals would look especially great teamed with shorts or a maxi skirt.

VIA UNO Payeta

Next up is the ultimate, comfortable slip-on, the Birkenstock! Perfect for hanging around the camp or lodge, wearing to and from the pool and also super practical to keep next to your bed for any impromptu toilet breaks in the night (you don’t want to be walking around bare-foot).Birkenstock Madrid Flor W

Finally, despite the heat, a pair of desert boots such as these beauties are perfect for jumping in and out of jeeps and running to catch the perfect photo of a disappearing sunset or an incredible wild animal. The best colours for going on safari are beige, tan and khaki as it can be quite dusty. These boots with their cute fringing and beads are the perfect blend of practicality and style and are a MUST! Team these with some lightweight linen shorts and you’re good to go!

LES TROPÉZIENNES PAR M BELARBI Paon

Ok, so that’s shoes sorted! Now here’s our top pick for the perfect bags! Obviously when on safari, it’s likely you’ll have quite a few essentials to lug around with you – sun cream, camera, notepad, sun hat, anti-mosquito spray etc, so we think a rucksack such as this Reebok one, is really great. Practical and lightweight!

REEBOK LG Combi

And finally, this amazing purse from Lollipops! Super cute (we love the toucan!) and totally topical, this purse is a blessing in disguise! Surprisingly spacious, you can cram coins, notes and still have room for a couple of plasters, stamps and probably even a chapstick. It also doubles up as chic clutch bag.

Have an amazing trip!
