Red Carpet style + Guess, Steve Madden, & more

Drama, sparkle, surprises, gowns…awards season is upon us, which means we’ll have plenty of gossip to get us through the next few weeks. What’s the first thing you look for in the morning-after reports? Actual results or fashion? I usually can’t wait to see the winners, but I’m definitely not immune to beautiful dresses…and shoes! To celebrate this rather glitzy time of year, I’ve picked some of my favourite outfits from the Golden Globes last night, along with their Sarenza counterparts ;)

Zooey Deschanel

Zooey Deschanel was one of the night’s biggest hits, in my opinion! This orangey red gown compliments her fair skin tone, and the big pearl jewelry is youthful while hinting at old-school glamour.

Zooey’s shoes are gorgeous slingback platforms that match the colour of her dress perfectly. In fact, I almost wish her dress was shorter so that it wouldn’t keep the shoes hidden! These Ted Baker high heels from Sarenza follow a similar idea but with less height for a more “down to earth” look:

Black may not be the most adventurous choice, but I loved Eva Longoria’s billowing black gown–particularly the detailing like the lace sleeves and cutout back that helped keep this outfit chic and interesting. The long slit–so popular on the red carpet last night–were the perfect way for her to show off her shoes, a pair of classic go-with-everything black platforms, similar to these Steve Madden platform heels:

Sometimes, shoes are the star of an outfit. Other times, they’re more supporting actors, if you will, which is definitely the case for Halle Berry’s Golden Globe ensemble. I love the cut of her dress, perfect for showing off her impeccably-toned upper (and lower) body, and I think that the pattern is beautifully intricate without being too busy. That being said, her nude heels do a great job of balancing the dress without taking away from it: they make her legs look even longer than in real life, and the colour coordinates nicely with the beige in the dress. They remind me of these nude pointed-toe high heels from Buffalo:

Miranda Kerr

Always stunning, Miranda Kerr looked great in a burgundy belted dress that hug her figure in all the right places…once I stopped being jealous of her gorgeous body, I noticed her gold sandals that, combined with her skirt’s flowing fabric, gave the model a Grecian goddess allure. Side note: I can’t wait to book a trip to L.A. and wear sandals in January! These Mocshino Cheap & Chic gold high heeled sandals remind me a lot of Miranda’s with their curvy strap design:

 Tina Fey and Amy Poehler

This hilarious duo proved that they’re not only hilarous, but super stylish as well! Even though I normally love a feminine look, this time I much prefer Amy’s outfit to Tina’s. Her trouser suit is still quite feminine with that plunging neckline, and I love the cropped trousers that let us marvel at her platform sandals. Tina, on the other hand, looks great, but the shoes and dress are a bit boring, in my opinion. These black Guess sandals remind me a lot of Amy’s, even if they aren’t identical; it’s the same idea of black elegance with a little added bling:
