With New York fashion week in full swing and London fashion week just around the corner, the ‘biz is gearing up for the hottest trends of Spring/Summer ‘13. But if like me you’ve only just laid your sandals to rest and have your eyes on a prize pair of boots rather than the new-look espadrille, then the street style at fashion weeks is where you should be looking! Street style always showcases what is smoking-hot for right now, as styled by bloggers, editors and just ordinary fashionable folk. So in case you plan to put in an appearance this fashion week, I’ve delved into our Boutique section and chosen some shoes that would definitely make you street-style-snap worthy….
The cut-out trend is much less shouted about than the others this season (you know the big hitters -berry, studs and as with every Autumn, military), which obviously makes it 100 times cooler. I’m currently coveting this pair of ankle boots from MySuelly but am undecided how to tackle the sock + open boot issue, either very well placed trainer socks or go for attention grabbing colours and make the socks a style statement?!
And here we are, one of the aforementioned big hitters, berry. Actually I love this trend and have already picked up a few items in varying degrees of purple, with a pair of shoes being next on my list. These ankle boots from Stéphane Kélian are currently in lead position, getting extra points for throwing a second trend into the mixer, patchwork.
A bit punk, a bit goth and a whole lot of tartan, these platforms from Terry de Havilland are not for fashion’s faint hearted. I would love to be brave enough to wear them full-on punk style with fishnet tights, leather skirts and so on…but I definitely won’t be, so I’m thinking more an awesome pair of skinny jeans and a cool t-shirt. (Boring, I know).
If you haven’t seen this trend then I don’t know where you’ve been hiding! Studs are everywhere this season and I can totally see why – a once nice but simple t-shirt is given an instant touch of fashion by adding a few studs and the same goes for shoes! Take these ankle boots from Vanessa Bruno Athé, totally wearble, yet totally cool….
I’m surprised fashion hasn’t come up with a more appealing name but slippers are indeed very big news this season. Not to be confused with the pink fluffy pair you wear around the house, this version works in much the same way as a ballet pump, just much cooler, obvs. I’m lusting after this pair from Melissa.
Til next time,
