Trend alert: wedge trainers

At first, I thought the wedge trainer trend would never spread beyond funky fashion experimentalists. Especially here in Paris, where feminine chic and timeless elegance dictate women’s fashion rules. But obviously, I was way off with my prediction! Wedge trainers are NOT a fringe fad but a full-blown fashion phenomenon.

I’ve yet to buy my first wedge trainers, but I have a few potential pairs selected from Sarenza’s collection that are tempting me more and more every day…what do you think of these?

Pick #1: Bullboxer
These Bullboxer shoes are way different from my usual style, but for some reason I’m totally drawn to them. Maybe it’s the colour–the orangey brown is easy to match—or the Velcro, bringing back my nostalgia for the 90s :)

Pick #2: Ash
It seems like I always have a pink shoe somewhere in my picks…too girly maybe? But for these Ash shoes, I think that the pink adds the perfect touch of femininity to counterbalance the trainers’ tomboy design.

Pick #3: Mellow Yellow
The 10 cm heel on these Mellow Yellow shoes is a little daunting for me for everyday wear, but I imagine the platform makes the heel height a bit easier to handle. This pair is a bit different because the wedge is really emphasised, not hidden like in most of the other styles I’ve seen. Hot or not??

Pick #4: Nike
Unlike the Mellow Yellow trainers, these Nike shoes hide the wedge almost completely. To me, they almost look just like regular basketball shoes. I think this would be a great look for sporty girls who want to show off how tough they are…both in AND outside of the gym.

Pick #5: Jeffrey Campbell
JC has done it again…these colourful trainers are brand new on site and have already been making a splash with our Facebook followers.  Flamboyant, fun, unique…everything that we love about Jeffrey Campbell shoes perfectly transcribed into a wedge trainer.

I’ve heard that wedge trainers are quite comfy as well, so I’m looking forward to jumping on the bandwagon and trying out this trend, even if I was sceptical at first. What do you all think about wedge trainers?

Until next time,

Jessica xx
