God Save My Shoes – My first ever film premier!
2 comment(s)
As you can probably tell from some of our previous blog entries, Sarenza UK have been known to occasionally enjoy a good soirée.
On Friday night we were lucky enough to be invited to an event that combined two of our favourite things; partying in Paris and shoes. It actually also included our third favourite thing – free champagne, but I’ll come back to that a bit later
The event in question was the film premier of God Save My Shoes. I was really excited because a) I’ve always really wanted to go to a film premier and strut myself down a red carpet and b) I have been writing about this film for a few weeks now and really wanted to see it in full.
For those of you that don’t know, God Save My Shoes is a world class documentary, exploring women’s love affair with shoes and includes insights and behind the scenes clips from world class shoe designers, as well as some celebrities and die hard shoe fans, with closets that could rival our entire warehouse!

Posing for the cameras (well one camera, mine!)
The film was being shown in Paris’s 9th arrondissement at the Max Linder cinema in Paris’s 9th arrondisement, and there was a strict dress code: anything goes for your clothes but wear nice shoes! As with any Sarenza event, there were some other AMAZING heels on show.I saw this as the perfect opportunity to showcase my new favourite pair and the world’s prettiest shoes in the world, my Melissa Anglomanias. It was my second night out in heels in Paris ever and I’ll be following up the experience with a full report in the blog very soon!

An example of some of the FAB shoes on display!
There wasn’t a red carpet, so sadly my photos won’t be appearing in any big magazines anytime soon, there was everything you’d expect; journalists, luvvies and of course free champers!

Champs!

Julie Benasra, the Director of God Save My Shoes in a rather amazing pair herself
Julie Benasra, the director opened the film with a speech and said that it was first and foremost a film about women and then about shoes. Since joining Sarenza I have found the whole subject of the psychology of women and how much they love their shoes fascinating and the documentary had lots of interesting points, which touched on a few subjects close to my heart like the history of fashion and feminism. For anyone who’d like to see the documentary – and I strongly recommend it to everyone, stay tuned to our French site, for more info about how you can buy the DVD.
The after party, (yes that’s right there was even an after party!) was held at one of Paris’s coolest nightclubs The Social Club, which was just round the corner from the cinema. We all took to the dance floor in our Sarenza heels. I actually managed to keep my shoes on and stay up and partied with the team until the wee hours.

Putting our best feet forward in our Sarenza heels!
It’s safe to say my first film premier was amazing and I am definitely looking forward to my next one when I become world renowned Sarenza shoe blogger – maybe next time they’ll be interviewing me in the film

The psychology of shoes is indeed fascinating!
The heels in that close-up are amazing! Looks and sounds like it was an amazing night! They definitely need to sign you up as a contributor if they do another film
