Since I have yet to write a blog devoted to men’s shoes, to kick off 2011, I thought I would try something new and focus on our male shoe enthusiasts – I know you’re out there, even if you won’t admit it!

A few years ago, a man’s shoe collection consisted of about three pairs of trainers, a pair of football boots and one half decent pair of smart shoes, which would be habitually bought out for work/school/special occasions/job interviews.

Over recent years, the footwear industry has boomed and it’s not just women who have succumbed the beauty of a pair of shoes. Our 21st century men are becoming more diverse in style and as a result, along with their wardobes, their shoe collections are growing too.

As the temperatures get colder, each winter, there is a bigger need for men’s fashionable winter boots, so here’s my guide to some of the best winter boots Sarenza has to offer for our male shoeistas, whatever their preference:

We have over 400 styles of men's boots at Sarenza

The Classic: Everybody knows the famous 6in Premium Timberland boots. For decades now, Timberland has been a prominent brand in men’s footwear and with good reason; these boots are comfortable, perfect for walking, adapted to suit freezing temperatures – what more do you need?!
This particular pair has a tartan detail on the edge, which would go great with a checked flannel shirt.

The Trendy: Workman boots have become popular with younger men both in the UK and in France. It’s an adaptable look which is both laid-back, but still makes an outfit trendy. Mustang Shoes, Base London and Vagabond all offer great styles. Teamed up with chunky knit and a pair of jeans, these boots are great for a night out with mates.

The Extravert: Men’s shoes with a pointy toe or “winkle picker” shoes as they are sometimes known have been around for ages and their popularity keeps growing. If you’re hoping to add a sharp touch to your suit or get noticed on a night out, these are definitely the boots to go for. We like this Marvin&Co leather boots, which complete the flamboyant look with a touch of blue material!

The Laid Back: If you prefer comfort rather than standing out then there are plenty of styles at Sarenza which offer casual lace ups. Clarks and Hush Puppies offer great casual boots.  These Dockers boots come in a nice colour and have a simple lace detail. The great thing about boots like this is that they can be worn anywhere so whether you are a fan of hiking or prefer to spend your free time at the pub, you’ll find them to be the perfect fit ;)

@Sophie H – I actually really like men’s fashion in the winter. Military boots/Uggs plus jeans, a chunky knit jumper and over sized parker = belissimo!!!
